Sept 15 @ 6:30 PM - Drive-In Movie - Dead Eyes of London

OUTDOOR MOVIE – DRIVE-IN STYLE!

Dead Eyes of London

September 15, 2025 at 6:30 p.m.

Library Reading Garden

In case of inclement weather, the raindate will be September 16.

Join film historian Keith Crocker and the Reader Services Department as we host an evening of mystery inspired by Edgar Wallace. Using a rare 16mm film print, Keith Crocker will show Dead Eyes of London from 1961, which is based on The Dark Eyes of London by Edgar Wallace. Wealthy, heavily-insured men are being murdered at an alarming rate. Scotland Yard investigates and finds clues that lead to a ring of blind men. Starring Klaus Kinski and Joachim Fuchsberger (who once was being eyed to play the role of James Bond). This film will be shown in the library’s reading garden, drive-in style.

Dead Eyes of London was one of the German krimi films that came out in the late 50’s and early 60’s. The krimi is a crime thriller that originated in Germany. Krimis borrow elements from other genres, particularly film noir imagery, conventional mystery whodunits, police procedurals and even horror. The krimi was initially inspired by the works of two British writers, Edgar Wallace and his son, Bryan Edgar Wallace. Besides presenting the film, Keith Crocker will discuss other krimis and movies that have been adapted from Wallace’s works. Grab some popcorn and enjoy the show!
