Elizabeth of East Hampton by Audrey Bellezza and Emily Harding

Lizzy has big dreams of becoming a journalist and was actually accepted to Columbia University to study for her masters. But her dad had a stroke and she puts her career on hold to go back to the Bennett family bakery to help out for the summer. Her four sisters still live at home but they are less than helpful, and the eldest, Jane, still has to wrap up her first grade school year. As Lizzy is working in the kitchen, she hears two customers asking her dad to suggest a local bar that they can hang at. One of them sounded pretty snotty and she decided to recommend a sleazy townie bar that she was sure they would hate-and she showed up that night with her sisters to watch the fun. But then she found out who Charlie and Will really were...you guessed it-Charles Bingley and William Darcy. Mrs. Bennett, of course, was thrilled because she heard through the rumor mill that they had bucks and started trying to throw her daughters together with them. Jane and Charlie immediately found a love connection but Will and LIzzy were at each other's throats until their surfing prowess brought them together in mutual respect. Did sparks fly? Can Jane Austen write a timeless novel?

This frothy romance was, of course, based on Pride and Prejudice, and followed the story very closely. Updated and with a lot of hot sex, Elizabeth of East Hampton is your perfect beach read-Austenites will have fun ticking off the ways that the original can bend in new directions, and newbies can go to Austen's novel to find that there's nothing new under the Hampton's sun.
