Her 30th birthday is turning into a nightmare. Zoe's father sends his standard carnation bouquet (Zoe works in a flower shop) and begs her to come back to England, where she belongs. The glamorous L.A. life that her publisher promised has not materialized, and she can't get around writer's block to pen the sophomore novel that is supposed to restore her reputation. She's pitched way too many rejected ideas to her agent. And she is very tired of one-date wonders, and hook-up apps.
She doesn't mop the floor vey well at her job and her boss slips on water and cut flowers, so Zoe is elected to drive the van. A client has ordered several pots of flowers and as Zoe unloads them, large dogs jump on her and one of the pots breaks, spilling them all the driveway. As a man starts yelling at her, the door to the house opens and out walks the guy who ghosted her 3 years ago, before he became a famous action movie star. Though Zoe tries to play it cool (butterflies butterflies) Zach seems happy to see her and invites her to a party that night. Maybe her wonderful California life will finally begin!
At the party, she is required to sign an NDA that she won't reveal any aspect of her interactions with Zach and she reluctantly signs. But her break-up with him inspired her debut novel, maybe writing about his Hollywood lifestyle and its ugly underbelly will give her the plot for a new masterpiece-as long as she can make time to write, perform her job, and stay out of the spotlight. But strange things start happening to her that follow the plot of her first book which, unfortunately, is a psycho-thriller.
As the drama ramps up and the action gets more heated, the reader follows Zoe to find the truth of her new boyfriend situation and the stalker who she seems to have inherited. Will this be the year that all of her dreams come true? Stay tuned.
