Did Rosie really see the world through "Rosie-colored glasses" as her friend insisted? She loved having a boyfriend, and made sure she changed herself to fit each one of their needs. Especially the last guy-she thought he was the one, and when he dumped her, she was devastated. She even ignored the pain in her chest, chalking it up to the psychological trauma of a broken heart. But when it got worse, she was rushed to the hospital and put on the donor list because her heart was actually giving out.
This happened a year ago and she was still picking up the pieces. There were some ways she found to make her life less depressing including dyeing her hair pink and binge-watching The Gilmore Girls. She also managed her parent's bridal store, but was pierced every time a potential bride was happy-why couldn't it happen to her?
Unlike most transplant patients, she already knew that her donor was the dead wife of Morgan Thornton-best-selling author of horror and thriller novels. She followed him on social media, proud of the connection they had, but noticed that someone on Instagram was implying that Thornton may have killed his wife. Outraged at the thought, Rosie contacted him through DonorConnect to thank him and his wife for so generously donating the heart that was keeping her alive. Contact information was discouraged on DonorConnect, but they started a correspondence which made both of them happy-he having no idea that Rosie knew exactly who he was and where he lived. While they were writing, Rosie saw that he was posting on his blog a new novel, which seemed to be based on her life and subsequent pain. She decided to go to his house and confront him but she was too late, he lay dead on the floor...and the police found a clump of pink hair clutched in his hand.
Can't say more than this-I don't want to ruin the "say what?" moment where you start doubting your reading comprehension skills. Suffice to say this became a dangerous thrill-ride fast, and Rosie's glasses had better come off soon before someone else gets hurt.
