Join us on February 9 at 7:00 pm as we discuss The Busybody Book Club by Freya SampsonNova Davies’ book club at the local community center is a disaster. To make matters worse, a large sum of money is stolen during one of the meetings. Suspicion falls on book club member Michael, especially when he disappears and a dead body turns up at his house. The book club members can't even agree on what to read, so how are they going to solve a murder?

EVENING BOOK DISCUSSION - March 16, 2026 at 7:00 p.m.


Join us on March 16 at 7:00 pm as we discuss More or Less Maddy by Lisa Genova. Maddy Banks is just like any other stressed-out freshman at NYU. Maddy’s latest low is devastatingly low, convincing her to go on an antidepressant. She begins to feel dazzling good and she soon spirals high into a wild and terrifying mania that culminates in a diagnosis of bipolar disorder. As she struggles to find her way in this new reality, Maddy will have to figure out how to manage being both too much and not enough.

                                                MEET THE AUTHOR – JULIE DOAR

The East Meadow Public Library is excited and honored to have Julie Doar discuss her debut novel, The Gallagher Place, which was the Library Reads Top Pick for December. This chilling story is a layered exploration of family secrets, sibling misconceptions, and an unsolved murder set in New York’s Dutchess County. Julie will be signing copies of her book which will be for sale after the program.

Julie Doar grew up in the Hudson Valley with her family, where she enjoyed exploring the rolling countryside. After graduating from Rice University, she worked as a Starbucks barista by day and a ghostwriter by night. She currently teaches middle-school English at a charter school in Brooklyn. The Gallagher Place is her first novel.
